2003 World Finals The 2003 World Finals are now in the history books as the new champions have been crowned. The Iron SPL Modified trophy went to Team Shady with a score of 168.8 db. The team Shady is a pair of seasoned veterans; Tim Heath and Jimmy Zimmerman using their MTX equipped Astro Van. The Iron SPL Unmodified trophy for loudest vehicle went to Erik Reid with a 162.6 db. Erik's Memphis packed Astro Van nearly broke the windshield in half on the first burp. The Road Warrior awards better known as the World Points Champion trophies were given out. These individuals represent the true definition of a competitor. Because it takes a special individual to maintain an SPL vehicle over the course of a season to achieve the most points in their division. Special Thanks go out to Stinger/AAMP of America who helped with the new judges uniforms, Ohio Generator, Incriminator Audio, and XE Audio. To the retailers who supported us this season we thank you very much as we will work harder to help you as well. The competitors who we feel are the best in the sport, continue to get louder as we will provide you with the stage for you to show your talent.
N.S.P.L. Welcomes our New Dealers! N.S.P.L. would like to welcome our newest dealers to the SPL family. Our first, we would like to mention is Music Masters of Greenwood, SC owned by Dave Pickell. Our second, is Low Country Sound & Performance of Low Country, SC and the owner is Steve Urich. Come out and support these dealers by attending their events and checking their stores out. Music Masters will host an event on Sept 7 and Low Country will host their event on Oct 4, 2003.
For the Record!
The new record program will begin for the duration of the 2003-2004 season. All state records will be reset for the new classes at any events sanctioned for records. The National records will be able to be attempted at any Real Deal Event (Double The Points). The World Records will be able to be attempted at any Triple Point Event during the course of the season. This will generate more excitement during the season; with competitors challenging each other for the title of being the loudest in their class. Another, highlight for this season will be the Insane Vented SPL Class. This class will allow competitors to place the mic in the vent of the sub box to see who has the loudest score.
